Matthew Cox

I’m a PhD candidate in chemical engineering at MIT in the Coley Research Group, where I work on machine learning for molecular design and discovery. I did my BS in chemical engineering at Caltech, graduating in 2024.

Most of my current work is on large language models for science: post-training LLMs for computational chemistry/materials science and building scientific agents that can plan, run and interpret scientific workflows. I’m generally interested in just about everything related to atomistic simulations and generative modeling!
